Yasgurs Farm has taken on many shapes over its lifetime.
Andrew and Dave met in 2008 at the University of Toronto. They started learning tunes together and occasionally took their music public, playing at smaller venues around Toronto. In their music education courses at U of T they linked up with Will, and the three of them proceeded to earn their degrees by singing CSNY tunes (with altered lyrics) as class projects and presentations. The Cover Band was herein formed.
The trio played for a little while at U of T socials and fund raisers, and later on that year met up with Bruce who eventually added his fourth harmony and bass to the group. The foursome continued playing for U of T events, travelling to Oshawa and Ajax from time to time to perform weddings and other private parties.
Gaining a reputation of performing a lot of vocal-heavy Woodstock revival tunes, The Cover Band opted for a more appropriate name. Yasgurs Farm was born.
Yasgurs continued to grow in number adding horns, keyboards and percussion in 2010. The band frequented pubs such as The Central, Paupers and Clinton’s Tavern, constantly expanding their repertoire and personnel. Today the band boasts twelve members playing shows around the city at local bars and clubs, as well as performing for private functions and weddings. The band is gradually performing in more cities that surround the GTA and will soon organise a tour of southern Ontario.
