November 20th, 2014Yasgurs Farm Supports Men’s Health at Lula Lounge

Hey all!

Yasgurs Fam is doing a show at Lula Lounge on the 28th of Novemeber. It's called Motown Movember. It is going to be a kick-ass Motown Show and in addition it is also going to be our very own Movember fundraiser. We are going to be raising funds for Men's Health. A cause that I know is close to all of our hearts.

For this gig there will be three sets like last time. One early set with a smaller group and then having the big band come up for the end of that set. Sets 2 and 3 will be full band as usual.

We will be in costume.

Please also, consider growing a moustache. Even if not for the whole month, for the show. It will add to the hilarious factor that we have going on. Also with 12 moustached men playing these classic hits, who wouldn't want to donate!

Last but not least, we also have a Movember team page where we are accepting donations for the cause. Please join us and raise some funds for Movember Canada. It could save your life and/or your balls one day.

Join us here:

Cheers!

COMPANY
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim
Book by George Furth
FIRST TORONTO PRODUCTION IN ALMOST 30 YEARS!

Tony Award-winning Company, said by many to have launched the age of the modern musical, centres on Robert, a single man unable to commit to a steady relationship, the married couples who are his best friends, and his three on-again off-again girlfriends.

Set in upper-middle-class Manhattan and told through a series of vignettes in no particular chronological order, each character and scene is linked by the celebration of Bobby’s 35th birthday.

An honest, witty, sophisticated look at relationships, Company is as contemporary and relevant as ever (seen with the recent hit revivals on Broadway and the West End as well as its transfer to movie theatres). It features a brilliant, energetic score containing many of Sondheim’s best-known songs (including "Another Hundred People," "The Ladies Who Lunch" and "Being Alive").

June 8th, 2012The Astro-Droids play the Toronto TD Jazz Festival!

If you haven't already, you need to come check out this band. The band consists of Bassit and lead singer Alex St. Kitts, Guitarist; Will Heebes and drummer (yes, the one and only) Robin Claxton! Our original music has a unique sound and has been compared to the music of the John Mayer Trio and Lenny Kravitz. Drake's Musical Director told us that "you guys sound like something I recognize, but I can't figure out who or what." Which in the entertainment industry, is a good compliment!

At this show, we will be performing our originals with some exciting covers including a whole set of music by Philadelphia's own The Roots - seeing as they unfortunately won't be performing again this year at the festival, we thought it would be a good tribute to them!

Come check it out - FRIDAY JUNE 22, @ 9PM - Midnight! $15 - part of the club series for the jazz fest!

Cheers,
Robin

September 21st, 2011Dusting Off the Cobwebs

Hey everyone!

It has been a while since I've last updated my website. Lots of exciting and interesting things have been happening to me this summer. One of them, Will Conquer has reformed and redefined our sound. We are moving away from the "pop" sound and gearing our music towards a more hard rock/indie style. Stay tuned for an upcoming Will Conquer show here and at www.willconquermusic.ca or our Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/WillConquer.

Next, this Saturday September 24th the Downtown Funk Connection will be performing at The Dominion on Queen (500 Queen Street East, Toronto ON). We will once again be having special guest vocalist Sammy Jackson join us for the evening. Sammy is one of the most talented R&B and Jazz vocalists I have worked with. So come on out at 9 PM and enjoy a great evening of funky, soulful music with Downtown Funk Connection!

That's it for now!
Cheers,
Robin

September 12th, 2010Robin Claxton appears on Rob Christian's New Album - Mix Tape

Hey all,

In August, I was fortunate enough to lay down the drum tracks for Toronto musician Rob Christian's newest album entitled Mix Tape. This is a killing album. It combines Rob's formal jazz training and his love for pop/electronic music. I can't stop listening to it! Check it out!
